New instore!

How do, all! Well, nearly halfway through the year, and the good stuff is starting to pop up all over the place! 2014 already feels like a bit of bumper year for fans of the good old fashioned album - remember when an artist used to serve up ten or so great songs that felt, musically, thematically, as if they belonged together - I'm thinking Sun Kil Moon "Benji", Beck "Morning Phase", Lykke Li "I Never Learn" or The War On Drugs "Lost In The Dream". Compare, say, to last year, which felt like a year of big songs - "Royals", "Blurred Lines", "Get Lucky", etc. This is, obviously, a good thing... There are also reissues of the first three, iconic Led Zeppelin albums - both deluxe and standard CD and LP, remastered and sounding better than ever before! There is the fourth Morrissey solo album (his finest!) "Vauxhall & I". There is the peculiarly lo-fi new Neil Young record, "A Letter Home", and a reissue of one of our favourite records, Swans "Burning World". Great stuff! Lots of great NZ stuff either out or not far off - our homeboys The Phoenix Foundation's "Tom's Lunch" EP finds them exploring new sonic territory, while you may also enjoy new 'un's from Sherpa, Liam Finn and Slow Boat house band Bleakwater. Anyhow, almost the shortest day - d'you know what that means? Time to stop in with some great new music! Keep warm and safe, will see you anon. The Slow Boat Crew X
