June already!
Crikey, almost half way through the year already - it seems like we have just gotten over Christmas!
It has already been a pretty momentous year here at the Boat, what with Record Store Day 2013 and its instore performances from David Kilgour et al, as well as instores by The Wedding Present and The Phoenix Foundation (who just may have made their best LP, the magnificent "Fandango", of which we still have just a few double gatefold sleeve LP copies). Then there was a visit from, oh, you know Robert Plant. Just quietly. And a terrific article in The Listener about Slow Boat's founding father and spiritual guru, The Coach.
But - even with all this excitement, please don't ever think we have been ignoring the crucial business of being a bloody good record store!!! It's what we do, it's what we are - and the fact that people stick with us gives us succour, and vim, and pep, and tells us to keep on doing it!!!
So with that in mind, here's what's floating our dinghy at the moment; the superb new album, effexor cheap online "Random Access Memories", from French electro-pioneers Daft Punk, with a little help from their friends - Paul Williams, Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams, Giorgio Moroder, Panda Bear etc etc - a kaleidoscopic trip through the last 40 years of danceable pop-rock-electro - it's really great. Seriously - and BACK IN STOCK NOW!!!
Also on the radar, very much, are new albums from Queens Of The Stoneage; the debut from angry, angular post-punk girl quartet Savages; a new album from whispery folksters Iron & Wine; as well as new releases from Alice In Chains, The National, Mark Kozelek & Jimmy Lavelle, The Veils, Beastwars, Billy Bragg, Boards Of Canada and so many more...
We've also got a whole new array of Slow Boat tee shirts, in all sorts of snazzy colours, so you may "represent" as you see fit, not to mention posters, books, magazines and all the rest.
Drop us a line, pay us a visit. We'd love to hear from or see you.
Keep warm.
The Slow Boat Crew!!!
