February, into March
Greetings, all!
Hope everybody is enjoying this marvellous late Wellington summer - a perfect time to kick back and take in some quality music - new or old...
On the brand spankin' front, we have new releases from Beck - the stately "Morning Phase", very much a companion piece to his 2003 heartbroken ballad-laden epic "Sea Change", while we are also thrilling to the stupendous new Sun Kil Moon (Mark Kozelek, ex-Red House Painters) album "Benji" - it's actually kinda staggering. And very, very bleak...
By way of contrast, there are also excellent new albums from Neil Finn (produced with Flaming Lips/ Mercury Rev alumni Dave Fridmann), Broken Bells' "After The Disco", Real Estate's "Atlas", or how's about the new self-titled St Vincent album.
We've also cranked through a mountain of jazz, country, rock and blues vinyl, priced it to sell, and put it out in the bins!
And cheap effexor town is literally heaving at the moment with visitors for the Arts and Fringe Festivals, not to mention a fresh influx of University students - and, just for you, studez, because we care - there is a fresh selection of meticulously chosen posters with which to cover up those grotty flat/ dorm walls - and at just $14 a pop, it's cheaper than painting/ re-papering...
