DANKE

Just wanted to say a huge Slow Boat THANKYOU to everyone who contributed to making Record Store Day 2017, as well as the Nadia Reid instore at Slow Boat, and the month of May so memorable in general - not least of which the artistes - TEETH, French For Rabbits and Nadia Reid, also soundguy Bernard Gruschow, poster designer Paul Johnson and the good people of Phantom Billstickers for adorning the city with the resultant images, also Pete and Tod at Music Planet for PA assistance - we really couldn't do it without you, and are immensely grateful to you all for your contributions to a hugely successful and enjoyable day for all.

We also got great service and support from the good people at Southbound, Rhythmethod, Border Music, Universal Music NZ and Sony Music NZ - for a great serving of limited RSD vinyl releases, and the smiling faces of those early risers, who were queueing outside from about 8am, when they'd managed to snare limited vinyl treats by Bruce Springsteen, The Cure, The Smiths and David Bowie, amongst many others, was a joy - didn't think we'd be seeing queues at the door of a record store before opening time again in my lifetime, but there you go! A reminder that we still have a handful of the RSD releases instore - hit us up if you missed anything, you might just be in luck. We also still have copies of the TEETH CD, which we released for the day - just $20 for a copy of the best pan-generational Wellington supergroup psych rock album to be released this year, or we'll be damned!! Terrific year for new releases this year thus far, also - new music from Father John Misty, Feist, The Afghan Whigs, Kendrick Lamar, Glass Vaults, The Magnetic Fields... all terribly exciting. We are also faintly aware of some very, very exciting shows headed our way before year's end - more news as it comes to hand. Anyway, hope you are all fighting fit and well - some nasty bugs going around; keep it clean with the coughs and splutters, stay warm and dry. AND - a British and Irish Lions tour descending upon our nation in just a few short weeks - it sure doesn't seem like 12 years since they last visited, in 2005, but it is!! Happy trails, cheers XX THE SLOW BOAT CREW XX
