November, already.

Crikey, seems like we only just got around to putting away the Xmas decorations, and it's nearly time to get them out again! Firstly, let us give due thanks to the magnificent Glass Vaults for their magnificent instore performance a couple of weeks back - disappointing that the EP didn't arrive in time, but from the sounds of the new songs, it will be well worth the wait - hopefully early in the new year - maybe we'll ask them back...?! There is a heap of thrilling stuff now available instore - like, f'rinstance, the Virgin Records 7" picture disc reissues - pretty little pic vinyl slabs of classic tunes from The Verve, Simple Minds, The Spice Girls, Mike Oldfield, and, um, T'Pau... There are a bunch of 12" reissues also - classic titles; Massive Attack, OMD and more - watch this space. We also have restocks of one of the indisputable and defining albums of 2013, our pals The Phoenix Foundation's hefty double set "Fandango" (which they launched instore with a free show back in May). Yippee! There is my personal fave album of the year - former Brunettes guy Jonathan Bree's phenomenal "The Primrose Path". We should also have vinyl and CDs of Connan Mockasin's amazing new record "Caramel" in the next few weeks... We can also order stuff in for Xmas - now is not a bad time to be thinking about it, so as to receive that special something for that special someone in plenty of time. We also have some pretty amazing stuff available online - if you find something in our GEMM or MusicStack listings that tickles your fancy, let us know and we'll let you have a look, and figure out a nice instore price... This week also sees the launch of the "Culture Vulture" voucher, which you can buy here at Slow Boat, or at Aro Video, or at Unity Books, in one friendly $25 denomination, and which can be redeemed at any of these fine bastions of independent culture - perfect for Xmas gift giving when you're just not quite sure, huh?! Anyway, do come and see us. We're happy to help in any way you can to make your "festive season" more musical/ memorable... Chin chin! The Slow Boat Crew
