Greetings, everybody – hope everyone’s nearest and dearest are safe and well in these trying times.
Am happy, however, to announce the winners of our prize draw to raise money for Christchurch Earthquake Relief – Stacey Sharp and Bill Greenfield each receive $100 worth of store credit for their contribution, will do the final tally and let you all know – thank you to all who participated!
New instore now – the latest (on NZ’s own Flying Nun label, no less!) from Deerhoof, “Deerhoof Vs Evil” (LP and CD). We also, at last, have vinyl of Robert Scott‘s (Bats, The Clean) excellent “The Great Unknown” solo effort – well worth a spin. Other store faves include Mojo‘s ‘album of 2010’, John Grant‘s quite gorgeous “Queen Of Denmark” (with backing from Midlake!), Jamie XX‘s remix of Gil Scott-Heron‘s latest album, entitled “We’re New Here”, local lads the Thomas Oliver Band with their blues-rock debut “Baby, I’ll Play”, Aaron Neville‘s return to his gospel roots, “I Know I’ve Been Changed”, Dr John‘s nominal follow-up to his finest album “Gris Gris”, entitled “Tribal”, Rumer‘s ‘Karen Carpenter sings Bacharach’-styled “Seasons Of My Souls (actually rather lovely!), an instore release of Dudley Benson‘s Taite Prize-nominated “Forest – Songs Of Hirini Melbourne”, or how about PJ Harvey‘s latest, the spooked out folk-stylings of “Let England Shake”.
We also have a brand new batch of stylish Slow Boat tee shirts, in black, green, brown and grey – HOO ha!
Apologies to anyone who is waiting on orders from us from the US – the order has been delayed, should be here by the end of next week…
Peace out, y’all,
The Slow Boat Crew
